Who goes where, and when
A key tells you nothing. It cannot be revoked, it cannot be traced, and when one goes missing the honest answer is that you no longer know who can open your doors.
Access control replaces keys with credentials you can issue and withdraw in seconds, and it keeps a record of every door that opened and when. Maxion Systems Ltd designs, installs and maintains these systems across San Fernando and the wider south.
Design
Every door is a separate decision. We walk the building with you and work out which doors need control, which should fail open and which should fail locked, how people get out in an emergency, and where a reader is genuinely worth the cable. The plan comes back to you before anything is ordered.
Installation
Readers mounted, cable run properly, locks and closers fitted so the door still shuts the way it should, and power backed up so a cut supply does not trap anyone or leave the building open. We set up the first set of credentials with you and show your staff how to add and remove them.
Maintenance
Access control drifts out of date faster than anything else we install, because staff change. We keep the door list honest, replace standby batteries before they fail, and service the mechanical parts that actually wear out: closers, strikes and the locks themselves.
What a system is made of
The credential
What a person carries or knows: a card, a fob, a PIN, or a fingerprint. Cards and fobs are easiest to issue and revoke. A fingerprint cannot be lent to a colleague, which is usually the point.
The reader
What sits by the door. We fit Mifare card readers, readers with a keypad so a PIN can be required as well, weatherproof keypads for outdoor gates, and combined fingerprint, card and keypad units.
The controller
The part that actually makes the decision, mounted safely inside. One controller typically handles up to four doors, holds the list of who is allowed through, and keeps the log of every entry.
The lock
Usually a magnetic lock rated by holding force, with the bracket to suit how the door is hung, or an electric strike in the frame. The door closer matters as much as the lock: a door that does not close properly is not secured at all.
Getting out
Access control governs going in, never coming out. Every controlled door needs free egress, by no-touch sensor or a push-to-exit button, and a way out if power is lost. This is a life safety requirement, not an option.
Power and backup
A dedicated 12V supply with a standby battery. Our outages are frequent enough that this is not a refinement: without it a magnetic lock drops and the building is open, or a fail-secure door strands whoever is inside.
The same hardware extends naturally into time and attendance, where the reader that unlocks the door also records who arrived and when, and into IP intercom so a visitor at the gate can be seen and let in from inside.
Controlled doors are usually only half the picture. Most sites pair them with an intrusion alarm, and we install Hikvision AX PRO and DSC PowerSeries Neo for that. See our alarm systems and networking.
